API Keys: The application allows you to input API keys for third-party AI service providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. These API keys are stored locally on your device in a configuration file. We do not transmit your API keys to any external servers or services other than the respective AI providers you choose to interact with.

1.2. User Data

Conversations and Files: Your conversations, rules, policies, and other data are saved locally on your device. On Windows, data is stored in %APPDATA%/talk-balance, and on macOS, data is stored in ~/Library/Application Support/talk-balance. This data is stored locally and is not transmitted to us or any third parties.

License Information: Your license key is tied to your email address and is stored locally on your device. Each license allows the Software to be used on up to 3 devices simultaneously. License validation is performed locally and license information is not transmitted to our servers.

1.3. Access Permissions

File System Access: The application requests access to your Documents and Downloads folders to enable you to open and save files within the app.

Camera and Microphone Access: The application may request access to your device's camera and microphone. Any data accessed through these permissions is used solely within the application for its intended functionality and is not transmitted or stored externally.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Providing Services: Your API keys are used to facilitate interactions with third-party AI services to deliver the application's core functionalities, including parental controls and content filtering for AI chatbot interactions.
• Local Storage: Data such as configurations, conversations, rules, and files are stored locally on your device to enhance your user experience and enable you to manage your content and parental control settings.

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

Third-Party Service Providers: When you use the application's features that require AI processing, your data and API keys are sent directly to the respective third-party AI service providers you have configured (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google). We do not intermediate these requests or store this data on our servers.

Legal Requirements: Since we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, we generally cannot disclose such data. However, if required by law, we will comply with legal obligations.

4. Data Security

Local Data Storage: All your data, including API keys and saved files, are stored locally on your device. API keys are encrypted using OS-level encryption (Windows DPAPI, macOS Keychain). We recommend that you secure your device with appropriate measures to prevent unauthorized access.

5. Children's Privacy

Age Restriction: Our application is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age. TalkBalance is designed as a parental control tool to help parents and guardians manage their children's AI chatbot interactions safely.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Policy Updates: We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be effective immediately upon being posted within the application or on our website.
